HEY THERE!

THIS IS SHAND CREEK PHOTOGRAPHY.

At the heart of it all, I’m just someone who feels things deeply and loves to notice this life we get to live. That’s what I try to bring into every photo I take. I want to be more than just the person with the camera — I want to be a friend cheering you on, making you feel seen, and capturing your story in the most honest, beautiful way possible, as well as noticing all that is around you and us in this season of life.

Whether you’re running barrels, waiting at the chutes, hanging with your crew, getting married, growing your business, or just living your everyday life — I’m here for it. Whether we are celebrating, or grieving, or somewhere in between. My goal is to freeze all those moments, big and small, so you can look back and feel it all over again. So you can see everything that was that moment in a timeless photograph.

I’m inspired by real life — rural roots, animals, old things, anything with a story, people who work hard and love harder, and the western way of living. I shoot a mix of real, unposed moments with just enough direction to make sure you get the images you’ll truly treasure. I want you to feel relaxed, comfortable, and like you’re just doing your thing while I do mine.

My editing style? Natural, true to colour, contrasted, warm(ish), and detailed — with just enough pop to bring your story to life. Take a peek at my work to see what I mean.

More than anything, I want your experience with me to feel good. Like a little pause in the chaos of life to celebrate your people, your story, and where you’re at right now. I want you to see a documentation of the life you love.

That’s what Shand Creek Photography is all about.

Here's a little bit so you can get to know me, and not just my business -

MY NAME IS PAYTONN, WELCOME

Your not-so-typical rural girl with a camera in hand. Always hoping to create connection and photograph magic in this life.

I grew up all over the place, but my heart stayed rooted in rural life. I always aimed to end up back there - just was not sure how. We were a farm family who stopped farming — and so when I became an adult I strived to make my own way to a piece of land. Now, my husband and I are building a life on our own little acreage — our forever patch of dirt — and we’re pouring everything into it. It has all our dreams wrapped up in it - and will take all the effort - as we definitely bought ourselves a dream project with the best of bones. If you follow along with my business you will se alot of this, alot of my husband, and definitely alot of my animals. I am an all of nothing kind of gal and wear my heart on my sleeve - so I share a lot of my every day.

I believe in the beauty of hard work, quiet moments, deep roots, and big skies. I believe in the magic of sentiment, of history, of passion. I believe in the power of connection and the magic of memories — and that’s what I chase with my camera. I aim to capture the little to the big of this life we get to live. We only get one and I want to remember and notice everything. And I love getting to do that for others as well.

I feel everything deeply — I mean everything. I’m the type who tears up often, laughs loud, and gets lost in the moment. I'm a big crier, a big talker, as you can probably tell, and someone who genuinely wants to notice as much as I can in this life. I want to make sure we all feel seen and heard and that we laugh lots, cause truly none of us get out of this life alive, and life is hard enough, it's meant to be enjoyed more  than I feel we do in this day and age. That sensitivity isn’t just part of who I am — it’s part of how I see the world, and how I photograph it. It helps me find the emotion in a photograph, the soul of a story, the feeling in the in-between.

I’m a big fan of caffeine, food (seriously, all of it), and any kind of adventure — from hiking and horseback rides to backroad drives in my husband’s ‘90s Chevy. I’m obsessed with the details, with the stories held in old things, with prairie skies, and with the kind of simple, sentimental moments that sneak up and stay with you. I try my best to be healthy, but I am all for balance, so you will definitely find me having a little treat of ice cream or a good poutine.

I love the deep, honest kind of connection — the kind where you really see someone. That’s what I’m drawn to, and what I hope to give in return. I am a fan of the imperfect and the real. And I hope to capture all of it in photographs and little video clips.

Whether I’m at home on the prairies or off exploring (with family spread across western Canada, I’ve always got a reason to roam), I’m always chasing connection — with people, places, and the lives we’re lucky to live.

If you're looking for someone to help you hold on to your story, and notice all of the things in it — the big milestones and the little in-betweens — I’d love to be that person.

Here’s to capturing the honest, the beautiful, and the unforgettable.

Here’s to noticing it all.

Here’s to hoping I get to be your friend with a camera.
